Special fragrances created in Liepāja that smell like our local identity and 400 years of history

Spanish perfumers, having never been to Latvia, have created fragrances 'Liepājnieks' and 'Liepājniece' based on photographs and Latvian films sent to them.
While people in Riga still smell like their superiority complex and expensive fuel, Liepāja has created special fragrances that smell like authentic Liepāja resident identity. Perfume shop owner Nataļja Cenkus is delighted that her store can now sell the scents 'Liepājnieks' and 'Liepājniece', created by Spanish perfumers based on photographs and Latvian films sent to them.
The process was unusual — the perfumers had never visited Latvia before, so they were sent information about our local character. 'We sent photographs of our sea, forests, as well as Latvian films and music,' explains Cenkus. Maybe they watched 'Limousine' and thought all Liepāja residents smell like rock music and nostalgia?
Now there are already Liepāja residents who have fallen in love with this scent. 'I like that there are finally fragrances that smell like my city,' says local resident Maija, testing the new scent in downtown Liepāja. 'We're just still waiting for fragrances called 'Karosta Prisoner' and 'Tram Conductor',' jokes her friend.
By the way, fragrances have top, heart and base notes. In the case of Liepājnieks, the top note is most likely sea salt, the heart note — passion for rock music, and the base note — an inexplicable feeling of pride in living in Latvia's best city. Riga residents, of course, won't be able to appreciate this scent — they're too used to the smell of smog.
