Specialists to Gather at Hika Warehouse in Liepāja to Discuss How to Properly Raise Children
At the end of February, a think tank on early intervention will take place at Promenade Hotel, where experts will teach how to help families in a timely manner.
On February 25th, all sorts of specialists will gather at Hika warehouse to discuss how to properly work with families who need support. The event with the lengthy title "Every Child's Life Story Deserves a Happy Beginning" will take place on the second floor of "Promenade Hotel" - apparently the first floor was too close to the harbor noise to have quality discussions about early intervention.
Participation in the event is free, which is already a miracle in these times. "We simply want children to grow up happy," says local resident Maija, who is walking past the warehouse. "But does that mean I'll have to tell some specialist how I raise my children? I've been living here for 30 years, and there have never been any problems!"
Several experts with impressive academic titles will speak at the event. Dr. sc. soc. Ieva Skubiņa will talk about foreign practices - apparently Liepāja doesn't yet have enough experience to rely solely on local wisdom. Meanwhile, special education teacher Evita Vanaga will reveal the "most significant challenges" in working with families. How complicated can it be - Liepāja parents have been raising children for centuries without special methodologies, and it's been working out just fine.
The most interesting part is that the event takes place within the framework of European Social Fund Plus co-financing. This means Europe is paying us to learn how to properly raise children. Meanwhile, in Riga, such think tanks happen in hotels where you have to pay for parking. At least in Liepāja you can leave your car at the Old Harbor without stressing about parking tickets.
