Liepāja badminton players prove in Talsi that rockets can be shot not only at Riga

Liepāja badminton players win 8 medals in Talsi, proving that our city knows how to handle rockets better than anywhere else in Latvia.

While Riga is still learning how to hold a badminton racket properly, Liepāja badminton players proved in Talsi on March 28th that we know how to shoot with rockets just as precisely as the Karosta canal bridge divides the city in half — clearly, decisively and without unnecessary questions.

Andrejs Lobakovs won two golds, triumphing in both singles and doubles together with Ritvars Mežalis. "I always knew that athletes raised in Liepāja are stronger than everyone else," commented local badminton enthusiast Jānis Vējonis. "We've had to deal with Baltic Sea winds since childhood, so these little rockets seem like toys."

Paula Mežale and Andželīna Vinklere each won a silver and bronze, proving that Liepāja ladies know how to both win and lose with dignity. Igors Bolodins with two bronze medals showed that men from our city can cooperate not only with their own, but also with Talsi representatives.

Overall, 8 medals and 2 fourth places is a result that Riga would dream about for months. But in Liepāja this is just an ordinary day — when the wind blows in the right direction and rockets fly where they need to.
