Liepāja Lighthouse to Transform into Digital Theater - For Only 387 Thousand Euros

After a year of attempts, Liepāja has finally found a company capable of installing projectors in the lighthouse. No visualizations yet, but the money is already there.
Liepāja City Council proudly announces that a contract has finally been signed for creating a digital performance at Liepāja Lighthouse. After a year-long search and one failed tender where the only bidder couldn't submit a compliant proposal, the same company has now somehow found the right path to the technical specifications.
As Development Department specialist Ieva Dejus admitted, no visualization is available yet, but developers have been given five months. Initially, they're working on the creative part and direction — apparently figuring out how to turn projectors and LED strips into art. Meanwhile, Riga has long understood that digital art is just a matter of how many euros you put into projectors.
The project's total cost is 387,144 euros, with most paid by European funds. Liepāja municipality's contribution is only 73 thousand — less than an average house price in Liepāja, so practically free. "I think that's good money for a light show," says local resident Andris. "The main thing is that it's not like those LED lights on Grīzupes Street — half don't work, half flicker."
Company "ProVision Baltic" will involve three subcontractors — one for content creation, one for electrical installation, and one for LED equipment installation. So the classic scheme — everyone does their little piece of work, and in the end, hope that everything works together. At least the lighthouse is already standing — that's the biggest progress Liepāja can demonstrate compared to Riga's "Rail Baltica" project.
