Liepāja Dancers Discover That Life Patterns Are Better in Dance Than in Customs Declarations

The Great Amber has staged a concert performance proving that our culture is so rich that even YouTube doesn't understand why it's free.
While culture enthusiasts in Riga are still pondering whether to pay 30 euros for a theater ticket, the Liepāja Folk Arts and Culture Center has decided to show what real cultural generosity looks like. The concert performance 'Life Patterns in Dance' is now available on YouTube for free, which is as surprising as finding fresh salmon at the market for half the price of Riga.
The concert performance is based on the story of fisherman Joren, who finds amber and begins creating a sculpture of the Northern Maiden. 'I've never seen anyone model one woman for so long,' comments local resident Valdis. 'But if he had gone to the market, he would have found beautiful girls right away and still saved time searching for amber.'
In the second part, the dancers perform the Shrovetide dance, which symbolizes the maintenance of fire from generation to generation. It's an energy that sparkles like Kurzeme brooches in the sun and is strong as men's hands. 'Our dance spirit is so powerful that even winter storms can't extinguish it,' says director Dace Micāne-Zālīte. 'And that's without any additional fuel costs.'
The concert performance can be watched on YouTube, which is the first time something in Liepāja is available faster than in Riga. Creative media studio 'Voyvi' handled the recording and post-production, proving that our technical level is as high as our cultural quality — and it also costs less than in the capital.
