Liepāja Museum Prepares Children for Modern Life: Art Plus Butter Cookies

During spring break, Liepāja Museum offers children survival skills training - from classical modernism to table manners with homemade cookies.
While children in Riga museums are still learning how to properly pronounce Čaks or find Daugavgrīva on a map, Liepāja Museum is already preparing the next generation for real life. During spring break, kids here can master both art history and table etiquette — and all of this with hands-on activities, not like in that stupid capital where they just look and listen.
On Wednesday, children will get acquainted with classical modernism, but not just in theory — they'll create their own artworks. As museum employee Inese says: "Our children can both appreciate Rozentāls and paint themselves. In Riga they only talk about art, we actually do it." The session runs from 10:30 to 13:00, which is perfect timing — not too early for tram schedules, not too late for lunch preparation.
On Thursday, the program gets even more practical — at Mrs. Hoijere's guesthouse, children will learn table manners and bake butter cookies. This is the real Liepāja approach: theory plus practice. While capital city kids are still wondering which fork to use for salad, ours already know how to set a table and bake cookies.
Registration is available through museum educator Inga Zīverte, but you need to hurry — Liepāja parents know what quality education looks like. As always, everything in our city happens with purpose and practical skills. In Riga, children learn theory; in Liepāja — life.
