Liepāja Museum Teaches Cheese Making and Broom Binding: Practical Skills That Cost 200 Euros in Riga

Sensation at Liepāja Museum! On June 19th at 4:00 PM, the Kurzeme Folk Costume Information Center will host a masterclass that proves — Liepāja residents can do everything. While Riga would charge the price of a new iPhone for a similar workshop, our folks will teach you both Midsummer cheese making and sauna broom binding for 15 euros.
Cheese making will be led by Inta Pērkone and Aija Dejus from Rucava, who promise that the cheese "rarely has time to cool down, because it's especially delicious when warm." Well, there you have it — as always, the best stuff disappears before the capital's residents can figure out what's happening. They'll make both white and yellow cheese with eggs, and both will come with tastings. It's like Jūrmala Park — everything quietly, without noise, and the result is so good that even ancient trees would embrace it.
Sauna broom binding will be taught by sauna master Vineta Solovjova, who will explain which branches to choose and how to tie them properly. While Riga people buy ready-made brooms in stores for double the price, Liepāja residents are learning the traditional art — selecting, binding and preparing.
