Liepāja Municipality Publishes More Detailed Work Schedule Than NASA Mars Missions
Liepāja City Council reveals to its residents that next week they plan not only committees and receptions, but also revolutionary tree cutting.
While in Riga the municipality announces work simply as "road repairs will take place," Liepāja City Council has published such a detailed weekly plan that even the priest of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cathedral would be envious of such organization for his major holidays.
From March 30 to April 5, Liepāja residents will have the opportunity to witness a true bureaucratic ballet. Monday will begin with a focus group discussion about children with neurodevelopmental disorders, but at 4 PM a municipal representative will head to Riga to watch the circus. "I think she's looking for new ideas on how to organize our committee meetings," comments local resident Jānis.
Wednesday will be particularly exciting with "Shadow Day," when students will get acquainted with the daily work of the municipality. "I hope they'll also show how you can organize three committees in five hours and still have time to think about tree cutting," says local teacher Maija. Meanwhile, the Municipal Administration promises not only the usual street maintenance, but also "preparing city plantings for flower sowing" - which means that spring in Liepāja has been officially confirmed.
While Riga is still trying to figure out whether winter is over, Liepāja is already planning an Easter gymnastics tournament and thinking about beach maintenance. So here we live - with a plan for every day and hope that at least half of it will actually happen.
