Liepāja's coastline transforms into natural sauna: residents can no longer see their neighbors

Such thick fog has formed along Liepāja's coast that local residents are starting to wonder if they've moved to England. The yellow warning is in effect until Friday morning, but as locals say, here you never know if it's morning, day or evening — the fog makes everything the same.

The most problematic situation has developed near Liepāja Metalurgs stadium, where fans are trying to find their way home after yesterday's game. One supporter admitted he's been wandering around Karosta for two hours looking for his car. "I know it's somewhere here, but everything looks like one big gray wall," he says, while simultaneously trying to figure out whether he's talking to a person or a parking lot pole.

Liepāja port has announced that all ships have temporarily stopped moving because even GPS is starting to doubt its own existence. Local fishermen, meanwhile, proudly announce that nothing has changed for them — there's always fog at sea, and that's normal.

Meteorologist Valdis Bērziņš explains that such fog forms when warm air meets the cold sea, but in Liepāja they simply call it "a normal Thursday." Advice for everyone: stay home, make tea and wait until the Baltic Sea becomes visible again.
