Liepāja Seniors Prepare to Become Students: 'The Wind Has Already Taught Us So Much'

On February 25th, experienced Liepāja residents will gather at the Youth House to discuss what they still haven't learned in life.
The Liepāja Education Department is inviting seniors to a special meeting to form the tenth Senior Growth Academy group. The meeting will take place on February 25th at 11:00 AM at the Youth House, and as locals say, 'finally we'll have a chance to learn something other than just how to survive in our climate'.
The ninth group has been acquiring knowledge for four months, which participants admit has been much more useful than what they taught in Riga: 'There they talk about theory, but we live here practically.' The new group is planned to start in March and end in June - just in time for when Liepāja's real summer season preparation period begins.
Spaces in the academy are limited to 20 participants, which is understandable - more people simply wouldn't fit in the Youth House if everyone simultaneously started sharing experiences about how to properly shop at Kuršu Market or why Liepāja buses are always late precisely when you're in a hurry.
Applications can be submitted until February 24th by calling 25646244. As a local comments: 'Finally there will be an opportunity to officially master what we've been doing for years - learning from life and from each other.'
