Liepāja students invent box that beeps when you forget vitamins - Riga still figuring out how to swallow pills

Three high schoolers create smart pill box with bluetooth and alarm signals. Now even grandma's medication routine becomes hi-tech.
The 10th grade team 'Revo Go' from Liepāja State Gymnasium has invented what we've all been secretly waiting for - a smart pill box that beeps, flashes and generally behaves like a spaceship the moment you forget your vitamins. Patriks Druva, Esmīna Magerramova and Mare Jansone have proven that in Liepāja even students can create technologies that Riga IT companies are still only dreaming about.
Built-in sensors detect whether the pill compartment is open, and the signal only stops when you finally obey your electronic nanny. The box connects to a mobile app via Bluetooth, because without an app these days even a toothbrush isn't real. As local pharmacist Gunārs says: 'Finally something that will make my wife remember to take her heart medication, not just coffee.'
Initially the team also worked on a smart thermos, but decided people need reminders about medication more than hot tea. Smart choice - in Liepāja the thermos never stays empty anyway, but taking medication is another matter. The students say the idea came from thinking about people who forget to take their pills, but honestly, who wouldn't remember their precious medications if they had sound effects like at Liepāja Museum, where history truly becomes interesting thanks to modern presentation technologies.
Public voting is currently underway, and the team encourages Liepāja residents to support their own. Because while Riga is still debating whether Bluetooth is safe for health, our youth are already creating the future. And if their box becomes popular, maybe someone will finally remember Liepāja's importance on Latvia's innovation map.
