Liepāja Market Vendor Mathematics: Russian Losses Exceed Karosta Population
Ukrainians report impressive enemy casualties that surpass even Karosta's population in its heyday.
The Ukrainian General Staff has published figures that make even Liepāja market vendors envious of Ukrainian mathematical precision. According to the data, Russian manpower losses have reached 1,257,880, which is more than the entire population of Liepāja, including Karosta, multiplied by two.
Market vendor Maija comments: "Well yes, potatoes sometimes disappear in our market too, but such numbers... That's like the entire Liepāja tram fleet inventory multiplied by a hundred." Particularly impressive are the tank losses — 11,684 units. For comparison, Liepāja has only four working trams, and that's already a historic achievement.
Interestingly, the accuracy of information is hampered by warfare. In Liepāja, similar difficulties arise only when trying to count how many cafés in the Old Town actually operate during winter season. At least the Ukrainians don't mention weather as a hindering factor — apparently they don't have the kind of rain we get on our coast.
In Riga, of course, they wouldn't publish such numbers — they're still calculating how much one public transport ticket costs. But in Liepāja we understood — Ukrainians are real professionals when it comes to counting.
