Liepāja Companies Discover That Building Rail Baltica Is Harder Than Ghost Hunting at Karosta Prison

While Riga is still pondering where the railway will go, Liepāja companies are already cutting down trees and swamps so Europe can finally come visit us by train.

While Riga politicians are still arguing about whether Rail Baltica is necessary, Liepāja companies have long since started doing what they do best — working. It turns out that of the 253 companies registered in the project, 222 are from Latvia, which means we've finally found something we do better than Estonians and Lithuanians.

SIA "Timberteh" commercial director Reinis Persijs Jurkovskis reveals that building Rail Baltica isn't just about sawing trees. Swampy territories, changing weather conditions, and the need to work in tandem with others — it sounds more complicated than organizing a ghost night at Karosta prison, where at least you know the horrors will only be imaginary.

Local resident Normunds comments: "While Riga thinks about how to get to the airport without traffic jams, we're here cutting down forests so all of Europe can come to Liepāja by train. It's like putting loudspeakers in Riga's center and shouting: here's the real Latvia!"

The project also involves big players — from "Ceļuprojekts" to "Latvijas autoceļu uzturētājs." This means there's finally a project that includes not only Riga firms, but also those that know how to work with real weather conditions and real nature. Because, as we know, if you can survive Liepāja's winds, you can survive anywhere.
