Liepāja Residents Discover Revolutionary Technique: Covering Windows with Blinds

While Riga is still learning how to properly open a window, Liepāja's design gurus have already mastered the art of covering it with various fabrics.
Today Liepāja's interior design world is in ecstasy — a technique has been discovered that allows covering windows with special pieces of material called blinds. As Karosta resident Jānis explains: "I thought blinds were some new word for tram, but it turns out — you put them on windows!"
Particularly popular have become day and night blinds, which, according to manufacturers, allow light regulation. "Well, we already have sunset and sunrise," skeptically comments Grīzupe resident Līga. "But if Riga folks need special blinds to understand when it's day and when it's night, then so be it."
Most attention has been drawn to white wooden blinds that cost more than a monthly salary. Local craftsman Valdis admits: "We've been painting boards white and putting them by windows for years. But now it turns out that's design, not poverty."
Meanwhile, café owners in central Liepāja are already planning to introduce a blinds theme — people will be able to order coffee while simultaneously learning how to properly cover a window. As the local philosopher by the Central Market says: "In Riga they cover windows with banknotes, but we — with tasteful fabrics."
