Liepāja residents still rely on tram conductor advice, while Riga's AI is already choosing socks

While 42% of capital residents already consult robots about purchases, people in Liepāja continue trusting tried-and-tested methods.
Recent studies reveal that 36% of Latvia's residents already use artificial intelligence to decide which electronics store to rob or which shampoo bottles to choose. But as usual, the statistics are dominated by Riga residents with their 42 percent.
"Yesterday I asked that AI what coffee to buy at 'Lido' center, but it recommended some specialty coffee from Amsterdam. That's when I realized this robot has never been to Liepāja," says local resident Inese, who then, as always, went to Rose Square and bought the same 'Jacobs' she's been buying for fifteen years.
Particularly interesting is that women trust AI recommendations more than men – 41% versus 30% respectively. Probably because men still think they themselves are the best experts on any topic, from car repair to proper ketchup selection.
Meanwhile in Karosta, pensioner Jānis skeptically shakes his head: "What artificial intelligence? I have Gunta from the neighbors – she knows everything about all products in all stores. And she's never been wrong!"
But seriously speaking – if 65% of people already trust AI recommendations, then soon our tram routes will also be optimized with artificial intelligence. Then they'll finally run down Graudu Street without delays.
