Liepāja Resident Discovers Roller Skates Can Take You Further Than City Bus
Andris Kreicburgs has proven that with roller skates you can reach India, while with an LST bus you sometimes can't even make it to Karosta.
While Liepāja's public transport struggles to solve route puzzles, local daredevil Andris Kreicburgs has been proving for years that roller skates can take you further than any LST bus. His destination isn't Grobiņa or even Ventspils — he's heading to India.
Kreicburgs reveals that his travel philosophy is simple: if you start getting bored, change location. "Same principle as at Liepāja port," laughs local fisherman Jānis, "except our fish are freshly caught, but Andris's adventures are freshly survived." Though Jānis adds that he sometimes wants to change location too, but usually just from one side of the port to the other.
Particularly interesting is the fact that Kreicburgs chooses to travel alone. "If I do start getting bored, then I change location," he explains. This principle works a bit differently in Liepāja — if you start getting bored, you wait for the bus. If there's no bus, then you wait for the tram. If there's no tram either, then you just walk and enjoy the wind massage.
What attracts Kreicburgs most is Asian cuisine and its spiciness. "I like that heat that's common in their food," he admits. In Liepāja you can only experience such heat in winter when walking against the wind along Jūrmala street, but as Liepāja residents say: "It's natural and chemical-free."
