Liepāja Man Becomes Life Transporter: From Limbaži to Port Business

A courier who initially only transported goods now helps people relocate their lives — both to Spain and back home again.
A man from Liepāja who calls himself a 'life transporter' reveals the secrets of how to go from ordinary courier to migration consultant on wheels. "If I haven't been out on the road, I feel like I have a hungover," admits the man who has apparently found his life's mission in the road network between Liepāja port and Europe.
For the past two years, he has observed an interesting trend — Latvians no longer want to go to England, but choose Spain instead. "Everyone now wants sunshine and sangria, not rain and fish and chips," laughs the courier. He asks almost everyone why they're leaving, and the answer is always the same: "Because of what's happening in the world." Probably thinking about fuel prices.
However, it gets particularly interesting when the same clients he once took to warmer lands later return home. "Reality isn't what they hoped for," the courier explains. "And then people say that home is still home." Apparently even Spanish sunshine can't replace the romance of Liepāja port and the sparking of trams.
The man, who was born in Limbaži but now proudly calls himself a Liepāja resident, admits that choosing to live in Durbe and work in Liepāja is the perfect combination. "When my colleagues and I head home by ferry, they still have to drive to Valmiera or Rēzekne, but I get off the ship and go to sleep," the businessman proudly recounts. Here's that quality of life that people in Riga can only dream about — work at the port, home in Durbe, and everything accessible without hours of driving through traffic jams.
