Lithuania sends 28th protest note to Russia - more than Durbe has residents

Lithuania's Foreign Ministry continues writing protest notes to Russia at record pace, already reaching the 28th this year. In Liepāja, we resolve such conflicts with a chat by the monument.

Lithuania's Foreign Ministry has once again picked up their pen and written yet another protest note to Russia. This time about 600 drones and 70 rockets against Ukraine, as well as about some drone getting lost in Moldova's airspace. 28 notes in two years - that's more than Durbe can count residents, if you only count those who haven't moved to Riga.

Lithuanian diplomats seem to believe that Russia can be stopped with bureaucracy. While Ukraine fights with "Patriot" systems and air defense, Lithuania fights with "Microsoft Word" and a printer. Maybe they think the 50th note will have some special effect? Or perhaps they hope the Kremlin will finally respond: "Sorry, didn't notice the first 27."

Particularly touching are the warnings about threats to Moldova. Some drone flew into foreign airspace - such an incident would happen every other day in Liepāja if we had neighbors with drones. But we'd resolve it with a phone call, not a diplomatic note.

Meanwhile, oil products leaked in the Dniester threaten drinking water in Ukraine and Moldova. Lithuania's ministry writes about this in protest notes, but in Liepāja we'd know - if something leaks into the river, first you call utilities, not write letters to the aggressor. But of course, we don't have neighbors who bomb hydroelectric stations in the evening and wait for our protest notes in the morning.
