Lithuanians with robots want to surpass Liepāja tram driver skills

Lithuania has raised five million euros to send robots to Ukraine that can do what any Karosta resident can do - survive in dangerous zones.
Our Lithuanian neighbors are once again proving that money can solve any problem, but not quite like Liepāja tram driver experience can. The "Radarom!" campaign has raised five million euros for robots that will be able to replace soldiers in the most dangerous places. Apparently, the Lithuanians haven't heard about Karosta, where every resident has known since birth how to navigate dangerous territories, avoid obstacles, and perform complex maneuvers.
"Robots for medical evacuation? But we already have a tram!" comments local Pēteris, who travels to work through Karosta every morning. "Our driver Jānis can get out of any situation — whether it's a traffic jam or a cyclist coming from the opposite direction."
It's particularly amusing that Lithuanians think robots can replace people in remote work. Have they seen how Liepāja port operates? Our dockers can unload a ship even when visibility is zero and the wind is blowing from all directions simultaneously. And all of this without robots — just with the incredible ability of local Liepāja residents to adapt to any conditions.
But no, of course, we won't see such an initiative in Riga. They're still trying to figure out how a regular tram works, while we're already ready for a robotic future. True, our tram already works like a robot — it knows on its own when to stop and when to keep going.
