Lithuanians Send Defense Attaché to Israel - Possibly Looking for Recipe on How to Survive Neighbors

Lithuania's Defense Ministry wants to create a special position in Israel to learn 'total defense' - probably thinking of our Karosta as inspiration.
While here in Liepāja we've known for decades what real total defense is - sitting in a Karosta café and watching tourists try to figure out whether those are authentic military buildings or simply Soviet-era architectural masterpieces, Lithuania has only now thought to send someone to Israel to learn defense wisdom.
Local pensioner Jānis Bērziņš, who has been riding tram No. 5 for 30 years, comments: 'Well, let them go learn. But I tell you - if you want to know about survival, let them come to our market on Saturday morning. There you'll learn what a real fight for life is.' Indeed, what could be better training for crisis management than having to stand in line for fresh fish at our port market.
Lithuania's ministry talks about 'supply chain stability' and 'bilateral cooperation.' But where were they when we here in Liepāja have been building our unique defense system for years - beach volleyball in summer and sliding on sidewalks in winter. They don't have such training in Riga.
The biggest question remains - will Israeli specialists be ready to exchange experience and send their experts to learn from us? Because, honestly, what could be better training for strengthening resilience than living in a city where even the weather trains you every day. But the Lithuanians will probably only understand this when they return home with full notebooks and realize they could have gotten all this wisdom closer to home - simply by taking a trip to Liepāja.
