The Livonia Hockey League semifinals have concluded with two teams that proved - if you want to reach the finals, giving up is forbidden. While Riga is still figuring out how to build a proper hockey arena, Liepāja and surrounding area teams have already determined who will fight for the main trophy.
In the first semifinal series, HC "LSK", which had won all ten games in the regular season, faced reality. HC "Naval Forces", which was only in fourth place during the season, showed that in hockey, just like in life, it's not how you start that matters, but how you finish. In the third game they won 7:2, which is as convincing as the fact that Liepāja's tram is the only one in Latvia.
"We were just waiting for our moment," says one of the "Naval Forces" players. "Just like the tram - it always runs at its own pace, but gets where it needs to go."
