LSM ombudsman reveals 12 ethics violations - in Liepāja that would be called a good start

The public ombudsman has identified 12 professional ethics violations in LSM content, which by Liepāja standards would be an almost ideal result.
Riga's public ombudsman proudly announces that last year he identified 12 professional ethics violations in LSM content. Out of 59 complaints, 12 turned out to be justified - that's almost 20 percent accuracy! In Liepāja, such statistics would be considered a miracle.
The most frequent violations concern objectivity, accuracy and neutrality. Jānis Bērziņš from Grobiņa comments: "Well, I think they're at least trying. Our local newspaper sometimes writes that fish fly, but nobody complains." Indeed, compared to local media, LSM seems almost saintly.
The ombudsman prepared 39 opinions, which is seven more than before. Apparently the workload is growing faster than the quality. But at least someone is working - that's something! People from Riga also go to Liepāja Theatre because they know quality is guaranteed there, unlike LSM content.
The law stipulates that the ombudsman promotes media literacy in society. Judging by these statistics, perhaps we should start by promoting LSM's own media literacy. But well, as my grandmother used to say: "What's not good is at least free."
