LST Director Decides Not to Attend His Own Work Presentation – Says He Doesn't Know What Kind of Organization That Is
Liepāja Public Transport Agency refused to talk about bus routes at a meeting because they didn't know it wasn't a city council session.
Liepāja has experienced a week of communication miracles when LST director Jānis Neimanis received an invitation to a meeting about public transport and... declined to participate. The reason? He didn't know that the event was organized by some new association, not the city council. In Riga, of course, there wouldn't be such problems – there, transport managers don't even know what resident meetings are.
Deputy Salvis Roga says that the people of Zaļā Birze want to learn about bus routes, but the agency head considers it "some party's individual event." Brilliant! Now even questions about why the bus isn't running have become politics.
"There's not a word in the invitation about it being this new association," says Neimanis. Maybe they should have invited him with a stamp and three signatures? Or with a notary? Liepāja residents are already used to having to do everything the complicated way.
Local tram driver Gunārs comments: "Well, I don't know who pays my salary either, but I still drive." The meeting will take place without LST representatives, which means those who actually ride the buses will talk about them. Probably will be more informative than usual.
