Lux Express finally realizes: Liepāja has a city center too, not just a port bus station

Following passenger requests, the bus company has added a new stop 'Līva' so people don't have to trudge from the port to downtown with their bags.

Revolutionary discovery in the bus world — turns out Liepāja has more than just a port! Lux Express Latvia, who apparently thought until now that all Liepāja residents live in containers by the harbor, has finally decided to add a new stop 'Līva' in the city center to their Riga-Liepāja route.

'I've been wondering for years why I have to run a marathon with three bags from the port to Graudu Street,' laughs local resident Daina. 'But now the bus will only stop there at night and early morning. So during the day I still have to run around.'

Lux Express board member Aldis Ķibēns admits they only have permission to use the new stop at certain times — in the morning at 4:44, 5:44 and 6:44, and in the evening at 21:10, 22:30 and 00:30. Apparently Liepāja city council believes that during normal hours, the city center is too exclusive for bus stops.

While in Riga buses stop every few steps, in Liepāja you still have to fight for every stop like it's gold reserves. But at least now there's hope that 'in the near future' they'll manage to agree on normal departure times. If only the wind doesn't blow away the negotiation table.

By the way, a new stop 'Svente' has also been added to the Daugavpils route — there the wind doesn't blow as hard, so the negotiation process was probably faster.
