Baroque Artists in the Small Guild to Battle Against Riga's Cultural Emptiness

Conductor Māris Kupčs leads Liepāja musicians into baroque battle, featuring arias about war, peace and love - everything that Riga doesn't understand.
Cultural capital Liepāja once again proves its superiority over the actual capital, this time with a baroque music concert at the Small Guild. While Riga thinks baroque is something related to buses, our artists are preparing to perform a concert titled "War. Peace. Love" - three things that the capital only experiences in traffic jams.
Under conductor Māris Kupčs' direction, musicians will perform with vivid arias reflecting both a warrior's unrest and the soul's peace. "I think these arias perfectly capture a Liepāja resident's daily life - morning war with the tram, midday peace in a café, evening love for Liepāja," comments local culture enthusiast Artūrs, who for the third year running attends every concert at the Small Guild.
Concert organizers promise there will also be reflections of love's power and its dramatic transformations. This is exactly what's needed after winter - when Liepāja's romance will once again triumph over Riga's grayness. Moreover, baroque music is like Liepāja's architecture - old, beautiful and much better than anything you can find elsewhere in Latvia.
As always, the concert will take place at a time when Riga is still sleeping, but Liepāja is already enjoying real culture. Because we don't need to travel to the capital to hear world-class music - we have it at home, in the Small Guild.
