Medze Parish Unveils New Design Trend — Forest Interior Decor with Sofas

While people in Riga pay enormous sums for apartments with forest views, one particularly creative South Kurzeme resident has decided to create a forest with an apartment view. A complete sofa set has been found in Medze Parish forest, suggesting that perhaps a new architectural movement has begun in our region.

Municipal police chief Ieva Ilstere admits that such creative solutions appear in her territory about once a quarter. "We have to look for anything identifying. Sometimes we find things in debris piles too, but there's unlikely to be anything in furniture," she explains, apparently unaware that the best ideas are hidden precisely in sofa cushions.

Local experts consider it an economic choice. "Dishonest people have always existed. You could say it's easy money," notes Ilstere, explaining that it's expensive to dispose of such waste at the "Ķīvītes" landfill. In contrast, we in Liepāja have implemented a more progressive approach — our tram, which is the only one in all of Latvia, runs right past all the furniture stores, so there's no need to haul furniture to the forest.

Although there are no surveillance cameras at the scene, "Kurzemes Vārds" conducted a thorough investigation and found mysterious laminated paper strips with the letters M, L, XL. Experts believe this could be a secret code or perhaps a furniture store promotional flyer that allowed this sofa set to be purchased at a discount.
