Meteorologists warn: tonight could be colder than the hearts of Riga residents

While Riga's thermometer shows minus 17, in Liepāja we've long been accustomed to real man's weather.
Meteorologists have announced that frost tonight could reach as low as 30 degrees, which, by Liepāja standards, is only slightly colder than a typical autumn evening by the sea. While panic shopping has already begun in Riga stores, Liepāja residents calmly continue their morning beach walks.
"I think that -30 is some kind of mistake," says local resident Juris, drinking his morning coffee on the terrace. "Usually, when winds like this blow from the sea, it's even colder for us, but we call that summer."
Although fog and frost will form in the northeastern regions, Liepāja will traditionally have clear weather, as the wind will simply blow away everything unnecessary toward Riga. Meanwhile, residents of the capital have already started planning emigration to warmer lands, such as Antarctica.
Tuesday promises to be sunny without precipitation, which means Liepāja residents will be able to enjoy yet another perfect winter day, while the rest of Latvia hides in their warm apartments and dreams of central heating. As always, Liepāja proves that real Latvians live by the sea.
