Moldova finally realizes that CIS is not the same as GPS

Moldova's parliament with 60 votes in favor and several against decided to withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States, having finally understood that 'commonwealth' is not the same as real friendship. It's like discovering that your Facebook friend who never replies to messages actually doesn't love you.

The ruling Action and Solidarity Party justified the decision by stating that 'several member states no longer observe CIS core values.' As one anonymous Moldovan politician said: 'We wanted commonwealth, but only got problems and gas bills.' In Riga, of course, they don't worry about such things - they don't even know what CIS is, but they know Moldova is doing everything right.

Communists and socialists, naturally, voted against, warning of 'catastrophic consequences for the economy.' This reminds one of a situation when Lake Liepāja is completely calm, but storms rage in Jūrmala - sometimes it's better to stay in calm waters than fight endless storms. Moldova chose the sea.

Now Moldova must denounce another 212 agreements out of a total of 283. It's like cleaning out grandma's attic - at first it seems like there isn't that much, but then you discover a whole lifetime is stored there. After 12 months Moldova will be free as a bird, but whether it can fly - we'll see.
