Next week will start with clouds that don't know whether to be or not to be — like a Riga resident at St. Joseph's Cathedral

Meteorologists have announced that next week will start with clouds behaving as indecisively as Riga residents seeing St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cathedral in Liepāja for the first time: "Is that a church? Is that a castle? Am I allowed to go inside without a ticket?"

At night the skies will be cloudy but clearing in places, as if the clouds can't decide whether they want to exist or not. Temperature will fluctuate between minus two and plus two degrees, which in Liepāja means perfect weather for a stroll to the seaside, while in Riga they'd already declare a state of emergency over such cold.

During the day, clouds will continue their performance of "To Be or Not to Be," occasionally allowing the sun to shine through. Rain is expected in the central part of the country, but in Liepāja, naturally, just a light feeling of dew, because our climate is too elegant for real rain. "I was already thinking the clouds are promising us more than they can deliver again," comments local resident Eduards, who has been waiting 40 years for real stormy weather in Liepāja.

In Riga, as always, it will be dramatic — clear in the morning, rain in the afternoon, as if the capital can't survive one day without some tragedy. While we in Liepāja simply grab an umbrella and carry on, knowing that real weather is what we make real.
