Netanyahu Calls on Iranians to Throw Off the Yoke — In Liepāja We've Long Known That the Pier Is Better Than Politics

While the Israeli Prime Minister teaches the world how to free itself from tyranny, in Liepāja we've been practicing freedom on the North Pier for years.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday announced that he calls on the Iranian people to throw off the yoke of tyranny, which in Liepāja only elicited knowing nods. We've long known that the only yoke worth throwing off is a winter jacket when heading to the North Pier for storm-watching sessions.
"Our goal is to ensure that the Iranian people throw off the yoke of tyranny," said Netanyahu during a meeting with Health Ministry representatives. Meanwhile, local pensioner Jānis Bērziņš, who goes to the North Pier every morning, commented: "I also throw off a yoke every day — namely, household worries — and head to the pier to watch the sea show its true power."
Netanyahu also added that with the measures taken so far, they are breaking Iran's bones, which again proves how differently people solve problems. In Liepāja we prefer breaking ice on the seashore and enjoying nature, rather than getting involved in international intrigues. As local café owner Māra said: "Let him break whatever he wants, but our North Pier offers a better show every evening than any political drama."
While rocket strikes and retaliatory raids continue in the Middle East, in Liepāja we know that true freedom is the ability to go to the North Pier at any time — whether for a romantic stroll or to watch a storm show its power. That's a much more effective way to free yourself from the yoke of daily life than waiting for someone else to solve the world's problems.
