NVA offers money for workplace adaptation - Liepāja has long known how to work with their hands

The state reveals that for 1000 euros you can adapt workplaces, while in Liepāja they've been working with what they have for years.
NVA has announced that employers can receive up to 1000 euros for workplace adaptation for people with disabilities. Of course, everything goes through Riga - there's even a specialized center on Jēzus baznīcas street. Because where else could it be if not in the capital.
In Liepāja the situation is different. "Here in Karosta we haven't needed ergotherapists for a long time - we know how to adapt workplaces ourselves," says Jānis, who has worked as a port loader for 20 years. "If something doesn't work, you can always grab a hammer from Kurzemes prospekts and fix it."
It's particularly interesting that the state offers ergotherapist services. In Liepāja, everyone who can fix a tram seat with duct tape is an ergotherapist. "We don't need 51 million euros for a project," comments Zenta from the Central Market. "A couple of wrenches and a good attitude are enough for us."
But seriously speaking - it's good that the state thinks about people with disabilities. Just why does everything go through Riga again? Liepāja also has people, and wheelchairs can even roll on our beach. Surely by 2028 some of this money will swim its way to us by the sea.
