Ships with grain damaged in Odesa — Liepāja residents rejoice they at least don't have to queue at Rose Square

Russia has bombed two civilian ships in Odesa port, but the main thing is the grain cargo remains intact. In Liepāja, they're not particularly worried about it since we have Liedags.
While Riga politicians are still trying to find Odesa on the map, Russia has already found it and decided that civilian ships with grain are too dangerous for international security. In the night attack, two commercial vessels flying Palau and Barbados flags were damaged, which sounds about as exotic as Liepāja's Rose Square does to foreigners.
Deputy Prime Minister Kuleba reported that the ships were loaded with grain and were at the docks. After the attack they're still floating, which is more than can be said for many of Riga's public transport units. "The main thing is that the grain is intact," commented one local resident, who apparently understands priorities better than soldiers do.
Such a situation would be impossible in Liepāja, because our port workers have much better things to do — like meeting at Rose Square and discussing whether today the wind is blowing from the sea or toward the sea. Besides, our ships are so small they can be hidden behind the Liepāja Concert Hall.
Rescuers quickly contained the fire, which proves that in Ukraine at least the firefighters know what they're doing. That's more than can be said for Riga's traffic planners, who have been containing traffic jams for years but never solve them.
