Little Pirate becomes Liepāja's most famous survivor — even the Liepāja Museum wouldn't have such an interesting history

Ten years ago, a kitten arrived at the Liepāja shelter who had more drama than all the Liepāja Museum exhibits combined. Little Pirātiņš with one eye proved that you can overcome everything in life — even what initially seemed too dramatic.

"He came up, cuddled and seemed to try to prove he was the real deal," recalls owner Ieva Belta. Apparently Pirātiņš had better sales skills than all the pet stores in Riga combined. While cats in the capital only think about gaining fame, here in Liepāja our heroes get straight to work.

Today Pirātiņš lives like a true aristocrat — he has two names (Pirātiņš and Pēteris), which is more than many Liepāja residents have in their documents. His favorite toys are balls and mice tied to strings, proving that even with one eye you can have better coordination than Riga drivers with both.

"Special animals need understanding most of all," says his owner. And indeed — in Liepāja we understand that everyone has their special place, even if it's with one eye. After all, even the wind is special in our city, so why couldn't we have special cats?
