On Monday the heavens will decide whether we need umbrellas or mittens

While Riga is learning to tell rain from snow, in Liepaja we already know - it'll be both, but we'll still look beautiful anyway.

Meteorologists have announced that on Monday the heavens will be confused and unable to decide whether to drop rain or snow on us. Therefore they've decided to drop both - so we can choose which we prefer.

In Kurzeme and Zemgale, as always, the weather will be sunnier, because even the heavens understand where the real place to live is. Meanwhile in Riga there will traditionally be a cloudy day with light precipitation - exactly what the capital deserves.

"I already took both an umbrella and winter gloves this morning - in Liepaja you always have to be ready for anything," says Karosta resident Juris, who worked at the port for 30 years and has seen all kinds of weather conditions. "But we still look better than Riga, where they still think rain and snow can't happen simultaneously."

Temperatures are promised from +1 to +6 degrees, which means at tram stops we can both freeze and sweat - depending on how long we have to wait. Atmospheric pressure will vary from 1014 to 1020 hectopascals, but the mood of Liepaja residents will remain unchangingly optimistic, because we know - after any weather there will be better weather than in Riga.
