Monday will be nice in Riga, but what's new - it's always more interesting in Liepāja anyway

While the capital counts degrees like a meter reader, in Liepāja we're ready for any weather whim with a smile.

Meteorologists have once again promised everything possible for Monday - rain, sleet, and even fog, but just not where it's needed. In the central and eastern regions there will supposedly be all sorts of unexpected surprises, but in Riga, of course, as always - just clouds and +2 degrees. Isn't that boring?

"I've long stopped being surprised by these forecasters," says Karosta resident Gunārs while drinking his morning coffee in downtown Liepāja. "They promise us everything, but we've long known - in Liepāja the weather is what it is, and we live with it like a good neighbor."

Meanwhile in the capital, people nervously look at thermometers and calculate whether it's +2 or +3 degrees. Liepāja residents don't need such mathematical exercises - we simply put on our jackets and go outside. If there's fog, then there's fog. If it starts raining - then it rains. Our tram runs anyway, the market works anyway, and the cafés still smell of freshly ground coffee.

"In Riga they count every degree, but we live real life here," adds Maija, a shop assistant at "Kurzeme" store. "While they're reading forecasts there, we've already managed to go to work, buy bread and chat with the neighbors. That's real life, not counting degrees."

So whatever the weather is on Monday - in Liepāja we'll be ready. Because we don't need forecasts to live a full life.
