Police in Liepāja Looking for People Who Have Disappeared from Camera's Field of Vision
State police are asking for help identifying individuals, as apparently there are people in Liepāja that even they don't know.
Liepāja police have turned to the public with an unusual request - help identify several people visible in some photographs. This is about as surprising as finding out that buses actually stop at Tošele station instead of just pretending to.
According to unofficial information, the officers themselves are somewhat confused by this situation. "Well, we thought we knew everyone in Liepāja - we've all been living here since the 1990s and see the same people at 'Rimi' every day," explains one employee who wishes to remain anonymous until he himself gets identified.
For comparison - in Riga, police never ask the public for help identifying people, because there everyone is a stranger even to each other. But in Liepāja, where everyone knows every cat's name, such a situation is almost paranormal.
"Maybe they're tourists who arrived on an 'AirBaltic' plane?" speculate local residents, as they see no other explanation for this mystery. Police continue their investigation and urge anyone who recognizes the people in the photos to come forward. Because, as we know, in Liepāja even anonymity is a public matter.
