Polish President Reveals Revolution: Government Dislikes Everything He Does

Polish President Navrocki yesterday once again proved that in politics, the main thing isn't money, but principles. He categorically refused to sign the law on a 44 billion euro EU defense loan, because it was supposedly too European and not American enough. Such a stance has only earned understanding nods in Liepāja — we also often refuse money, but usually because we don't have any.

According to the presidential office, he still has until March 20th to reconsider this revolutionary idea — that government proposals could be bad simply because they were submitted by the government. Such logic would have surprised even the pensioners gathered at Rose Square, who in their usual discussions about tram schedules still manage to reach some constructive conclusions.

Poland was supposed to become the largest recipient from the 150 billion euro defense program, which sounds impressive until you realize it requires signing documents. The government even prepared 139 projects for spending this money, 30 of which were intended for strengthening eastern borders. In Riga, of course, there would be 300 such projects, but in Liepāja we know that sometimes one good idea is enough.

The opposition is naturally outraged that the money would come with conditions and promote European manufacturers. Such concerns would be understood in Liepāja, if only our main foreign partner hadn't been Riga for years, which also isn't famous for its manufacturing capabilities.
