Midnight Pedestrian Gets Unscheduled Driving Lessons on Ādu Street

In Liepāja, as midnight approached, a man decided to check if he could still find some adventure in the direction of the New Bridge.

Ten minutes before midnight in Liepāja, what could be called an unplanned meeting between an Audi and a pedestrian occurred on Ādu Street. Of course it happened near the New Bridge – where else in our city can you expect real thrills?

According to police information, a woman was driving toward the bridge, but the man apparently decided to test whether Liepāja's streets are as pedestrian-friendly as those in Rīga. Spoiler: they're not. "At least something happens here even at midnight, unlike in the capital where everyone sleeps peacefully," comments local Andris from Karosta.

Police representative Madara Šeršņova reports that the man was taken to a medical facility. There he can peacefully contemplate whether it was really worth trying to outrun an Audi on foot. Spoiler number two: it wasn't.

An administrative violation process has been initiated regarding the incident. Police are clarifying the exact causes of the accident, but we already know – this is the Liepāja lifestyle, where even night walks have their own adrenaline rush. You won't get such adventures for free in Rīga.
