Riga Gets the Biggest Slice of the Cake Again - This Time for Burying Mysterious Dead Bodies

The state allocates 19,000 euros for burying the unidentified deceased, Riga gets the lion's share again, while Liepāja gets just crumbs.
The state, with great compassion, has decided to allocate 19,000 euros so that 11 municipalities can dignifiedly bury deceased persons of unknown identity. And of course, who gets the biggest chunk? Correct — Riga with its 12,851 euros. Surprise level: zero.
Liepāja received only 301 euros, which is so laughable that even the ghosts of Karosta prison are chuckling. "We here in Liepāja also have mysterious dead — for example, those who were waiting for the tram at Grīzupe stop," comments local cemetery keeper Jānis. "But for 301 euros you can only mow the grass."
Interestingly, Ludza county got 1,290 euros — almost five times more than Liepāja. Is something happening there that we don't know about? Maybe they have particularly expensive mysterious dead, or they simply know how to write better applications.
In Riga, of course, they're already planning to establish an accounting firm called "Mysterious Dead Accounting Services." With such sums, they can afford even VIP funeral ceremonies. Meanwhile in Liepāja, we continue to prove that we can work miracles with a minimal budget — just like with our tram system and port development.
