A sensation occurred at Riga Maternity Hospital — the Sīmanis family from Valmiera welcomed triplets, the first in the capital this year. A girl and two boys were born within four minutes, which is faster than you can run from the beach to your car in Liepāja when it suddenly starts raining.

According to the maternity hospital, four sisters and a brother are already waiting for the triplets at home, meaning the family will now have eight children. "If Liepāja had such birthing intensity, we'd have needed a second tram line long ago," comments local resident Ausma.
