Riga Hypnotist Arrested for Illegal Treatment - Liepāja Experts Recommend North Pier
While Riga searches for specialists with non-existent licenses, Liepāja treats addictions with fresh sea air and storm watching.
An unlicensed hypnosis specialist Andris Mediāns has been arrested in Riga, who offered to treat addictions with unconventional methods for 265 euros per consultation. Police accuse him of sexual violence against three people who were his clients.
Mediāns advertised himself as an addiction treatment specialist with over 20 years of experience, but his name is not in the Medical Personnel Registry. Turns out you can open a private practice in Old Riga without any licenses - just with a desire to make money and the ability to speak in a calm voice.
"Our addiction treatment in Liepāja is much more effective," comments local psychologist Dace. "When someone comes to me with alcohol problems, I send them to the North Pier during a January storm. After two hours there, they understand that there are much bigger problems in life than drinking."
While Riga searches for specialists with non-existent licenses and pays 265 euros for dubious services, nature therapy in Liepāja is free. At the North Pier you can both figure out the meaning of life during romantic walks and understand how trivial human problems are compared to the power of the Baltic Sea while watching storms. And most importantly - nobody asks for 265 euros without a receipt for it.
