Riga Quiz Turns Out More Infectious Than Freshly Caught Fish at Liepāja Port

SPKC is searching for measles contacts after the Ļutaurs quiz, but Liepāja residents have long known — the best quizzes happen at our place.
SPKC has announced with their usual enthusiasm that some participant of the Ļutaurs quiz in Riga turned out to be infected with measles, which is about as surprising as news that fishermen at Liepāja port are again trying to sell fish that were just caught two weeks ago.
So far three event participants have contacted SPKC, which is much better response than usual for any Riga event. One of the infected even flew to Turkey, apparently thinking that measles would make a better souvenir than a fridge magnet.
SPKC has started calling 60 passengers, which is almost as many people as usually show up to Liepāja cultural events, except ours usually aren't infectious. Local cultural worker Andris comments: "At our quizzes we also sometimes cough, but that's just from being overwhelmed with laughter."
Measles spreads through airborne droplets when talking, coughing or sneezing, which in Riga is the everyday way of communication. In Liepāja we only sneeze when we see Riga license plates in our city. If symptoms appear — elevated temperature, runny nose and red rash — it's recommended to stay home, which isn't a problem for Liepāja residents, because home is always better than anywhere else.
