Rinkēvičs calls for mobilization in video: Liepāja residents have been mobile with trams for four years already

The President urges society to mobilize even more, but in Liepāja they've long known that true mobility means riding the tram to Karosta and back.

State President Rinkēvičs today called on society in a video address to mobilize even more in support of Ukraine. In Riga, of course, everyone immediately started looking up what this fancy new word 'mobilize' means. In Liepāja, they just laughed.

'We've been riding the tram to Karosta and back for four years already - what more is there to mobilize?' comments local resident Jānis, who just got off route fifteen. 'While Riga was still thinking about mobility, we already knew that true mobilization means getting from downtown to the port without forgetting to get off at the right stop.'

Meanwhile, vendors at Liepāja market admit they've felt the spirit of mobilization for a long time. 'Every morning I mobilize to get up, mobilize to get to the market, mobilize to sell potatoes,' says Maija. 'And if someone from Riga thinks that's not enough, let them try getting from Grobiņa Street to the port in winter - then they'll understand what real mobilization is!'

The President emphasized that for every completed task, two new ones arise. In Liepāja they call this the 'tram effect' - while you're waiting for one tram, two others arrive, but yours is delayed. That's why locals have long mastered the art of mobilization - always being ready to run for any tram heading in the right direction.
