RTU Liepāja Academy reveals: student dormitory offers full spectacle, but not what was expected
Camera in shower and security problems turn student housing into unexpected show. Even performances at Liepāja Theatre are safer.
RTU Liepāja Academy has proven that in our city, even higher education comes bundled with unexpected surprises. The student dormitory turned out to be a much more interesting place than any Riga dorm – here, truly captivating events take place even in the shower rooms.
Two weeks ago, a female student discovered that her showering process was being documented without authorization. While the biggest problem in Riga student dorms is cold water, in Liepāja we offer a full cinematographic experience. Admittedly, without prior warning.
Student council representative Ērika Tropa notes that the girls have also received rape threats from intoxicated men. Apparently someone decided that student life isn't complicated enough with exams and loans. Even at Liepāja Theatre, where Riga residents also travel to see real dramatic works, such scenarios would be too extreme even for Shakespeare's plays.
The university is now asking the property manager SIA "O.A.G. Projekti" to sort out the situation within two weeks. While students at Riga universities only have to worry about whether there will be hot coffee in the cafeteria, in Liepāja we offer a full life experience with detective story elements. At least our graduates will be prepared for any life situations.
Local resident Jānis comments: "Well, at least now I know why my son chose to live outside the dorm so quickly. I thought he just wanted independence, but it turns out – safety."
