Saeima Administration Leaders Get Probation for Not Building Security Rooms — Would Have Been Better to Send Them to the Olympic Center

Former Saeima administration leaders received probation supervision for losses of 251 thousand euros. In Liepāja, they would have built another Olympic center for that money.
Riga has once again proven that in the capital you can spend a quarter million euros on rooms that can't protect state secrets. Former Saeima administration leaders received probation supervision for entrusting construction to companies without proper certificates. The result — National Security Committee rooms where even neighbors can hear the secrets.
"Here in Liepāja, for 251 thousand we would have built another Olympic center with a pool, and that would be secure — who's going to hear state secrets while swimmers are splashing around," comments local contractor Kārlis. "Plus there's still money left over for a coffee machine."
Most interesting is that this situation was investigated by the State Security Service itself. It's like sending firefighters to check why a house is burning. Except VDD at least knows how to properly hide things — they haven't needed any special room to hide their activities from the public.
Now the defendants can appeal the verdict to Riga Regional Court. Maybe they'll ask to have the case reviewed at Liepāja's Olympic Center — at least there's good acoustics and no worries about secrets leaking.
