Siliņa: 2000 Latvians in UAE Sleep Safer Than in Riga on a Saturday Night

Prime Minister's conversation with UAE President reveals our compatriots are better off there than in Daugavgrīva during a storm.
Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, after her conversation with the UAE President, announced that approximately 2000 Latvian citizens in the United Arab Emirates feel safer than in downtown Riga on a Saturday night. "They can peacefully walk the streets there without leaving their passport and phone at home," commented a Liepāja pensioner who once accidentally left his wallet at a Dubai restaurant and got it back with all the money intact.
During the conversation, the Prime Minister expressed condemnation of the Iranian regime's attacks, comparing them to Russian violence. "Only our windy city knows how to properly fight aggression — with strong character and combat experience," said a local Karosta resident. "In Riga they only talk, but we act."
Notably, both sides discussed cooperation opportunities in drone technology. As one Liepāja IT specialist admitted: "We've had years of experience with unmanned aircraft — watching them fly over the city every day. Our tram drivers could probably teach the UAE something new about precise navigation in challenging conditions."
While the Prime Minister praised UAE's air defense, Liepāja municipality is already planning to invite the Emiratis to learn our city's defense system — "How to survive when everything around you moves faster than the speed of sound while maintaining a good mood."
