Skrīveri Distillation Masters Prepare Competition for Liepāja Rock Musicians
An illegal alcohol production facility with 1,315 liters of absolute alcohol was discovered in Aizkraukle region - enough to keep the entire Liepāja rock scene in artistic intoxication for a year.
While Riga is still debating whether vodka is a cultural or sports drink, a four-person team in Skrīveri has successfully proven for a year that alcohol production is an art form. On May 11th, police discovered a real distillation university with 10,501 liters of production - that's more than all of Liepāja's rock music consumes in a month!
The detained individuals - one woman and three men - formed a perfect team: one responsible for quality control, and three for production volume. As local resident Gunārs said: 'They worked like a real band - everyone knew their role, and the result was impressive!'
Judging by the amount of absolute alcohol (1,315 liters), this was a serious operation. For comparison - that's enough to keep all the rockers at Liepāja's 'Fontaine Palace' in creative mood for at least half a year. But unlike our musicians, the Skrīveri masters forgot about licenses and taxes.
Now the prosecutor's office will decide on the legal punishment - up to five years in prison. But honestly, for such production volume in Riga you'd get praise and subsidies. Only in Kurzeme do we know that quality is more important than bureaucracy.
