Šlesers Fears Theater Like a Liepāja Merchant Fears a Rīga Bus
Politician asks KNAB for protection from playwrights' evil intentions, while Dailes Theater prepares a show about the famous decree.
As it turns out, even experienced politicians can have fragile feelings. Šlesers, who once wasn't afraid of raids and trials, is now worried about a theater performance. It's like a Liepāja Karosta resident being afraid of Rīga Dailes Theater actors.
KNAB, of course, responded diplomatically - there's insufficient information to accuse the theater of hidden agitation. This is almost as surprising as news that Liepāja port has salty water. Local political science expert Jānis comments: "Well, if theater can influence elections, then we should also worry about the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra - they also perform for audiences."
Particularly spicy is Šlesers' comparison with a guard dog. In Liepāja we know that the best guard dog is the sea wind - it never lies and always tells the truth. Plus, without commercial breaks.
The premiere is planned for June, just in time for Liepāja's summer festival season. Maybe Šlesers should come to our side - here instead of theater we can offer a Karosta Prison tour. At least there it's clear what's real and what's pretense.
