In Slovenia politicians fight for power while pigeons peacefully coo in our Rose Square

In Slovenia's elections, Golob's liberals slightly outpace Janša's conservatives, while in Liepāja the only intrigue revolves around whether to install new benches in Rose Square.
Slovenia's PM Golob's liberals have gained 29.9% of votes in polls, while Janša's conservatives are left with 27.5%. Since the difference is smaller than the price gap between milk in Liepāja and Riga, you could say - the fight is intense!
Their campaign there is shaken by claims of foreign interference and some kind of secret videos. Local political expert Eduards Saulkrasts comments: "We don't have such problems in Liepāja - if someone wants to secretly record something, they just sit on a bench in Rose Square and wait for someone interesting to walk by. They hear everything, see everything!"
If Slovenia's politicians want to learn democracy, let them come to our Rose Square. Real people's assemblies happen there every day - pensioners discuss both government decisions and why pigeons are cooing so little this year. And nobody bribes anyone - the maximum offered is seeds for the birds.
Golob, by the way, has legalized same-sex marriage and recognized the Gaza war as genocide. Our local commentator Guntis Vējgalis says: "Well, good for him, but can he solve why coffee in Riga costs twice as much as in Liepāja? That would be a real political achievement!"
