Starmer Learns from University of Liepāja: Attention Must Be Paid to What's Important

British PM reveals revolution in diplomacy - simply say that what's important is important. In Liepāja, they've known this for ages.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Downing Street residence, announced a revolution in international diplomacy: "Ukraine must be at the center of attention." Experts acknowledge they haven't seen such deep strategic thinking since someone first said that winter is cold.
Riga's foreign policy analysts are still trying to understand how Starmer arrived at such a revelation, but for University of Liepāja political science students, this has been clear since first year: if something is important, attention must be paid to it. "We teach this at the beginning of the semester," laughs one of the professors. "Maybe Starmer should apply for our master's program."
Particularly impressive is the Prime Minister's commitment to being "unwavering" in support of Ukraine. This is about as unexpected as news that wind blows in Liepāja or that there are traffic jams in Riga. Local expert Valdis Bērziņš comments: "Starmer discovered what we Liepāja folks have known for ages - if you want to help, then help. No philosophy needed."
Meanwhile, Riga diplomats are still trying to figure out how to integrate this revolutionary approach - paying attention to what's important - into their foreign policy. But, as always, while the capital thinks, Liepāja already acts.
